Winter Welly Walks Return!

FAMOUS ARBORETUM WINTER WELLY WALKS RETURN!

By popular demand the Yorkshire Arboretum at Castle Howard will again be hosting Winter Welly Walks on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Now in their eleventh year and organised and run entirely by volunteers, the events offer a welcome opportunity to walk off any seasonal overindulgence in glorious surroundings. Afterwards, walkers enjoy mulled wine, hot and cold drinks, a delicious selection of home-made cakes and treats, and plenty of festive cheer in the cosy Visitor Centre.

Yorkshire Arboretum Director John Grimshaw said “The Winter Welly Walks are something of an annual institution! They’re organised and run entirely by our wonderful volunteers to raise funds for the work we do here, and enable people to get out in the fresh air and explore the arboretum at a time when we’re usually closed to the public. Whatever the weather, the Visitor Centre is full of walkers enjoying a slice of Christmas cake and steaming cups of coffee after their walk. There’s always a lovely festive atmosphere”.

The walks run on Friday 26th December and Thursday 1st January, 10.30am – 3pm.

Tickets include entry to the arboretum, food and drink and cost £6 per adult, £4 for children aged 11-16, £2 for children aged 5-10 and under 5s are FREE. Booking is required, please email [email protected] or phone 01653 648598
