Cautiously optimistic, and with great care – anyone for tennis?

A message from Chairman: Paul Hogarth

Use of Tennis Courts for Exercise
Following the government announcements on Sunday 10th May the playing of tennis is permitted subject to the following restrictions (kindly interpreted and provided by Hovingham Tennis Club).

  1. Only members from the same household can play together on court at the same time, i.e. singles for adults or doubles for families living together.
  2. Use gloves when touching the entrance gate, the net, the hooks, the benches or anything else inside the court.
  3. Bring your own balls with you and take them away again.
  4. Leave none of your possessions on court.

Please use the tennis court responsibly and with respect for others.
If other people are wishing to use the courts please restrict your use to 1 hour.
Thank you for your support and co-operation and please stay safe.

Little Village Maypole Reminder

Don’t forget to look out for a strange sight on the village green on Friday, see here.

Do your bit to support the Maypolers and help the village get over the pandemic; take a selfie, but STAY SAFE.

Little Village Maypole Returns – Friday 8th May

In this period of lockdown/social distancing, the Maypolers want to remind our villagers that it is soon May Day & 75th Anniversary of VE Day. We also want to make you aware that our traditional May Day celebrations WILL return in 2021.

Our Little Maypole will make an appearance on The Green on 8th May between 11am and 7pm.

If as part of your PERMITTED daily exercise you may like to walk past the Little Maypole, have a brief look and perhaps take a photo/selfie and email us a copy, we can use them to promote 2021 May Day .
Indeed!!! it does seem a bit of a strange thing to do , but we are in strange times so let’s embrace it and show a bit of our eccentricity.

HOWEVER and MOST IMPORTANT

We remain in lockdown/social distancing mode – so this is not a gathering we are promoting. Please please follow all the Government guidelines. We encourage you to use your daily exercise to walk past The Green and take a quick photo with the Little Maypole (as funny/odd/daft/VE day related) as you wish. Also please DO NOT touch the little Maypole for H&S reasons.

Please email any photos to [email protected]
