Poppy Appeal 2020

Did you miss this year’s call by your friendly neighbourhood poppy appeal collector? How many hundred thousand such volunteers were there last year? No, I don’t know either. Just consider how much income and support has been lost, owing to the pandemic. “Veterans” both old and young need support now more than ever.

Rye Reflections: Wildlife memories and more wanted

If you have memories of living, working and playing in the Rye catchment, the Ryevitalise team would like to capture your memories of sights, sounds and species (and no doubt also your pictures).

Slingsby sits at the SE edge of the Ryevitalise area, and many of us will have walked along the banks of the Rye at places such as Butterwick, Nunnington and Helmsley. Could reflecting on those recollections be a lockdown project?

Please contact the Ryevitalise team to be part of this project on
[email protected] or call 01439 772 700.

The government confirmed yesterday that public gardens can remain open during the English lockdown period, acknowledging the physical and mental benefits everyone gains from being outside in green spaces.
