All change for the 194 bus service!

East Yorkshire Buses are all set to run the 194 service through Slingsby from Monday 8 April 2024. The company has taken over the contact from Coastliner which had been running it since February 2018.

Apart from new look buses and (who knows?) new look bus drivers, any changes will initially be subtle, but they do include slight timetable changes. We cannot summarize them as the East Yorkshire and Coastliner websites do not exactly agree on the timetable to run from 8 April. So, if you are intending to use the bus soon, have a look below – we recommend staying flexible and patient!

Scarecrow Weekend and May Day in Slingsby

The Scarecrow weekend and Slingsby May Day celebrations will be taking place over the weekend of 4th to 6th May. Friends of Slingsby School (FOSS) warmly welcome entries for the scarecrow trail from village residents. There is no set theme, we just ask for a fun, child-friendly entry that families will be able to guess using a clue from the trail. Entries are £2, please submit the name of your chosen scarecrow along with a clue by Monday the 15th April. To enter or for more information please email [email protected] , click on one of the links below to download an entry form or look out for entry forms in the upcoming issue of the Triangle.

The pop-up cafe will be open in the Methodist Chapel across the whole weekend 10am – 4pm, offering trails, refreshments and a selection of children’s pre-loved books and games.

Bank holiday Monday will start with the village car boot sale on the sports field where parking will also be available for the day. On the green there will be live music, maypole dancing, singing and stalls organised by the Slingsby Maypole committee. The scarecrow trail will feature across the whole weekend with trails available from the pop-up cafe in the Chapel and Slingsby Sports Club.

***** Download the entry form [PDF] HERE or as an editable WORD document HERE and please return it by 15 April. *****
