News about an event taking place at Hovingham village hall on 11th October:-

Have you ever wished that you had all the answers to your business questions in one place?

Well that’s what a Popup Business Cafe is.

We have been approached by the good people at the Howardian Hills AONB who want to do something to support rural businesses. So we are teaming up with our friends in the local business community, to bring a two hour Popup Business Cafe to Hovingham Village Hall on Saturday 11th October.

We will have local expertise waiting to give practical answers to your questions on a range of business topics. Totally informal, turn up when you like, leave when you like. It’s a cafe, not a conference.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s FREE!

So, come along and chat with an expert at our informal drop in sessions, for genuinely FREE business advice. Ask questions of people who know about:

Accounting, Broadband, Business Planning, Finance, Food Licencing, Funding, Getting Paid, Growing your Business, Marketing, Regulations, SEO, Social Media, Websites, Tax effeciency…..and being in business

Slingsby Methodist Church News: September 2014

Some news from Slingsby Methodist Church:-

HARVEST FESTIVAL
This year we are having a United Harvest Festival with the Parish Church. It will be held on Sunday 28th September at 10-30am at The Methodist Church. We are organising the service amongst ourselves with lots of local participation!
After the service we are going to have a Harvest Lunch in the Methodist Schoolroom. All are very welcome.

We are having our “Shoebox” appeal again this year at Slingsby. As you will remember gifts of toys and suitable items are packed into shoeboxes and sent to parts of Africa and eastern Europe.
They are always very much appreciated by children many of whom would otherwise get nothing at Christmastime. Leaflets about the shoebox appeal can be obtained from the “Farm Shop” or from Rachel Prest. A service to dedicate the shoeboxes will be held at Slingsby Methodosit Church on Sunday November 2nd at 10-30am. The service will be led by Margot Taylor.

CAROLS AT THE GRAPES
We are having a Carol Singing night on Tuesday 16th December. We will finish up at The Grapes for 7pm. All are welcome.

Looking over Cockayne, Bransdale | Photo by Keith Buck

Keith Buck sent in this rather nicely composed shot looking over Cockayne, Bransdale. The road with the sign slightly leaning away to one side and the distant wonderful view make you want to go down the road. Thanks for sending in the photo, Keith.

Do you have a great photograph you’d like to share with us?
