Talk: ‘What’s in a name?’

Tuesday 21 November 2023, 7.30pm, Slingsby Methodist Schoolroom.

Many wonderful old words have fallen into disuse and are crying out to be rediscovered! Slingsby Local History Group welcome a guest speaker from Malton Museum to introduce you to a few of them and tell you of their origins and uses over the centuries and their links to Malton’s history.

This promises to be an interesting and informative talk, covering language use, history and story-telling.

Entrance £2. All welcome

The Group will also discuss plans for our usual Christmas session and for next year’s talks.

Parish Council Meeting 20 November

Monday 20th November 2023, 7pm, Slingsby Village Hall Committee Room

A regular meeting of our Parish Council, which residents are welcome to attend.

As well as the more usual items, the Council will be approving the new Precept, considering purchasing permanent Community Speed Watch in Operation signs for Malton Road, while Cllr David Wells will talk on how the parish can influence positive development in the future.
