FRIDAY 5th – SUNDAY 7th OCTOBER, Castle Howard
Fantastic Food Festivals will be making their first visit to Castle Howard, to work their magic and create the ultimate food and drink festival for all the family to enjoy.
John Hoy, CEO of Castle Howard says: ”We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Fantastic Food Festival in Castle Howard’s tranquil and ornate gardens. Castle Howard certainly has all the ingredients to create the perfect festival – with a 1,000 acres of woodland walks, temples, lakes and fountains to explore with breathtaking views across an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”
Jeff Harper is the Director of Fantastic Food Festivals, he comments: “We’re delighted to organise a Fantastic Food Festival for the first time at this spectacular venue. We’re looking forward to celebrating local and regional food and drink at this beautiful historical venue; from artisan bread and pastries, mussels, homemade Ginger Beer, gourmet sausages, homemade pork pies and fudge to gin, prosecco and craft beers with plenty of sampling opportunities along the way.”
The Festival Kitchen and Talks and Tastings Hub is a hive of activity during each festival with a full programme of fascinating demonstrations from talented chefs as well as food and drink experts. Castle Howard will host Dean Edwards from ITV Lorraine, renowned local chefs Nigel Brown and Michelin-starred Andrew Pern from The Star in Yorkshire.
Prepare to be amazed by cake specialist and home economist Emma Fuller from Velvet Fig. During her live demo expect audience participation and tips on how to enhance your baking skills to create incredible statement cakes.
The youngest members of the family won’t be forgotten at the food festival. After sampling a wide selection sweet treats and a gourmet BBQ, children can run wild in the extensive grounds and adventure playground then enjoy the garden games and face painting.
Please note that the Food Festival is included in standard admission to Castle Howard.
