I noticed the wonderful wall of daffodils, featured in the photo, as I  pulled up to the crossroads at the top of the Balk a few days ago. You can’t miss them!

After the drab browns and greens of winter, there’s nothing like a wall of bright colour to welcome in the spring and say goodbye to the winter.

Bank Holiday Monday will be busy with a number of events taking place in the village. The Annual Scarecrow Trail can be followed throughout the weekend from the 4th May and the first of this year’s  Car Boot sale will take place on the Sportsfield  from 7 am to 2 pm (weather permitting, of course).

Finally we have the May Day Celebrations that will take place this year on Monday, May 6th starting at 12 noon on Slingsby village green.

Saturday 4th May 2013 starting at The Green, Slingsby.

The Malton Wheelers will be staging their 100-mile bike ride, departing at 8:30 am. The ride will be held over two routes, both of them starting and ending near The Green in Slingsby. (Click on the map to enlarge, and view the route.)
