Anyone for tennis? Social evenings start today 6 May!

A message from the Sports and Social Club’s Paul Hogarth:

We are proud of the facilities that we are able to offer people in Slingsby and the local area to use, including the play area, sports field and of course the two tennis courts.

We are also pleased to be able to work with Hovingham Tennis Club to allow them to play competitive matches on the courts at Slingsby for their ‘B’ team.

They will be playing fixtures on a Monday night on the following dates:

  • 10 May against Helmsley A
  • 31 May against Coxwold B
  • 21 June against Crayke
  • 5 July against Malton B
  • 12 July against Raskelf B
  • 26 July against Pickering

The courts will be unavailable for general use during on these dates between 6pm and 8.30pm to allow for these league games to take place.

In addition, a successful trial of the tennis social night last year has encouraged the running of the tennis evenings once again this year.

Tennis social evenings will be commencing on Thursday 6th May and will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.  Everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy social tennis and meet like minded people.

Remember the two, high quality and recently refurbished, tennis courts are available for anybody to use free of charge whether you are a resident of Slingsby or a visitor to the area.  If you wish to reserve the courts there is a booking sheet in use but feel free to pop along and if they are not in use get playing!

It has been great to see the tennis courts used recently for junior tennis coaching and it is always fantastic to see the facilities of the club getting used to help people of all abilities maintain healthy lives.
