Defibrillator installed in Slingsby

Slingsby’s new defibrillator was installed mid-week in the former phone box on the Green.

It is housed within a secure and robust cabinet within the newly painted phone box.

The access code can only be obtained in the event of an emergency, and if the ambulance service considers it appropriate, in response to a 999 call.

About 20 local people attended the training session last Wednesday evening in the Village Hall. We learnt how to recognise cardiac arrest, how to give chest compressions, when and how to use the defibrillator, and about the associated action to take in the event of its being required.

Of course, it is to be hoped that it will not be needed any time soon.
