The Secret Story of the Georgian Stables of Birdsall House
By Janine Buckley

The story of the country house stable will be brought to life through this archaeological interpretation of the Georgian stables at Birdsall House. Stables, often fine architectural works in their own right, are often overlooked in academic study in favour of the houses they served. Janine Buckley’s research into this under-explored subject brings to light how these equestrian buildings were used and experienced by their patrons, their staff and by the horses housed in them.
