God for Harry, Slingsby and St George!

Slingsby 23 April – Today is not just St George’sDay. Today is also William Shakespeare’s birthday, the 30th anniversary of the launch of the ZX Spectrum and World Book night. If you are struggling to see the connection between these events, you are not the only one. No one, as far as we can tell, has thought to publish a history of St George as an e-book in the language of the Bard (astonishing, I know). Anyhow, now the website editor has your attention, may I suggest that you spare a thought for Slingsby’s very own dragon-slaying medieval knight, William Wyville, who still lies in All Saints Church. He may have lost his feet and his dog, but, by George, he refuses to give up his sponsored lie-in in aid of the Church tower appeal!
