Local Democracy Free Talks – Government Proposals on Fracking

How will the government’s new proposals on fracking affect local democracy in Yorkshire?

Why is an exploratory fracking well like a garden shed?

What will happen to our countryside if fracking becomes a National Significant Infrastructure Project?

Free public talks, organised by Frack Free Ryedale are taking place during September for local residents who are interested in finding out more about the government’s proposals to make non-hydraulic exploratory drilling for shale gale Permitted Development, and to make large scale fracking a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). They will explain how you can respond to the government’s consultations and how to raise this issue with your local councillors. You can download a PDF version of
Frack Free Ryedale’s leaflet, Local Democracy and You  which gives more information on the above.

The dates for the public talks are:

  • Wednesday 19th Sept 7pm – Hovingham Village Hall, Main Street, Hovingham YO62 4LF
  • Tuesday 25th Sept 7.30pm – Gilling East Village Hall, Pottergate, Gilling East, YO62 4JJ
  • Thursday 27th Sept 7.30pm –Ampleforth Village Hall, West End, Ampleforth YO62 4DU

Tea, coffee and cakes served at all talks!

The public talks aim to enable local residents to find out more about the government’s proposals – and how local residents can have their say and opinions heard.
