Local History Group Lecture: Yorkshire’s Vanishing Coastline

Yorkshire’s Vanishing Coastline, a lecture by Malcolm Brooke will take place on Tuesday 16th July 7.30pm at the Methodist Schoolroom, Slingsby.

A meze of coastal erosion stories with some added military history. The East Coast of Yorkshire is a fascinating stretch of coastline to visit. Over the years villages and individual farms have been lost to the sea and it is the location of a fictitious German invasion, vanishing gun batteries and other intriguing military activity.

Malcolm is a very popular speaker with an engaging style and hopefully the lecture will encourage us to go and explore some of the features he is discussing when the weather (finally) improves!
