Open Day event at Malton’s Castle Garden

Malton’s Castle Garden is holding an Open Morning on Saturday 15 September to showcase work recently carried out to refurbish and create new paths. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of stalls and children’s activities.

The event, which will run from 10am to 1pm, will feature fairtrade and environmentally friendly goods, a plant stall and book stall run by volunteers from Norton Hive and the Castle Garden. There will also be books from author Jean Illingworth from York, a Frack Free Malton and Norton information stall and refreshments from Really Awesome Coffee.

Castle Garden founder member and secretary, Di Keal, said:
“We received a grant from Ryedale District Council recently which we have used to refurbish and extend the paths in the Castle Garden. This work is now complete and we want local people to come and look at this and other work carried out in the Garden recently.

“Many people tell us that they are still unsure where the Castle Garden is, so this is a perfect opportunity to visit and look around this beautiful space.

“There will be plenty of activities for children and stalls to browse, so we hope local people will come along and spend a couple of hours enjoying everything that the Garden has to offer.”

Malton Castle Garden can be accessed from Castlegate and from the main entrance off Orchard Field. The event is free, but donations are welcome towards the continued maintenance of the Garden.
