I was unable to attend the parish council meeting on 21st May but hear from someone who did attend that the bench at the end of Railway Street is not to be replaced. I was very disappointed to hear that this was the case as this is often used by ramblers and cyclists who wish to stop and take refreshments. I hear yet another seat is to be sited on the Village Green where there would appear to be at least three. I do not know why we at this end of Railway Street seem to be forgotten as we pay part of our council tax to the Parish Council as does the rest of the village.
Neither do we benefit from any grass cutting and it is left to people living on the opposite side of the road to do this. When the grass grows
tall, as it obviously does at this time of year, it is difficult for drivers to have a clear view of traffic approaching in the opposite direction which is dangerous bearing in mind the volume of heavy farm traffic and enormous lorries passing through the village, the bend in the road at its narrowest point and, of course,. the speed. I feel that there should be a sign to remind drivers of the thirty mile per hour speed limit as there are in most of the surrounding villages. I would appreciate your comments. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment, Susan. We at the website are happy to act as a channel for residents’ legitimate concerns, but we tend not to express opinions on matters, especially when we don’t have the facts, as in the case of the resiting of the seat. So, I am passing your comment on to the Parish Council, who I hope will respond.
As for cutting of grass verges, I can tell you that on the High Street we do it ourselves.
