All Saints’ Churchyard, Slingsby – notice of works

We have received the following message from  the Revd Beryl Bowes:

It is hoped that the major work on the church tower will start fairly soon, and this will necessitate scaffolding being erected. As the area designated for the burial of ashes is sited at the base of the tower we are concerned that the memorial stones are not damaged while the repairs are carried out. Thus we feel it may be necessary to move some of them, depending upon where the scaffolding poles are placed, and keep them in safe storage until the work is completed. The grave spaces will be carefully marked, names logged and the memorials will be returned to their original site as soon as is practicable.  If families of those whose ashes are interred in the area have any concerns, please contact me (690663) or the Churchwardens, Ann Wilson (628567) or Keith Dixon (628832).
