Slingsby Methodist News and Upcoming Events: April/May

SLINGSBY METHODIST CHURCH – NEWS

P1010772

On Sunday 1st March a large congregation gathered at the Chapel from around the Ryedale Circuit and beyond to celebrate that Louise Hayes had become a fully accredited Local Preacher. Rev Jacky Hale, Rev Norma Davey and Rev Mike Smith all took part in the service along with several local people including Louise’s family, husband Nigel and children Tom and Kate.

EASTER SUNDAY 5th April we shall again celebrate the wonderful Easter story of the crucifixion and glorious resurrection of Jesus. Come and share with us in these events. We begin at 9am with an Easter Breakfast and then at 10-30am we shall have an All Age Family Communion Service led by Rev Tanya Short.

WEDNESDAY LUNCH. Following on from the fish & chips from The Lions over the winter months we are planning a lunch for senior members of our community on Wednesday 15th April in The Methodist Schoolroom at 12 noon. There will be soup, sandwiches and a pudding and time to relax and chat. No charge but donations welcome. Numbers for catering would be appreciated but not essential. Contacts are Stephen & Rachel Prest 628277 and Trudy Carr 628302.

SLINGSBY FRIDAY CLUB is going very well with over 20 children attending each month (first Friday). The children enjoy having tea together and then having games, crafts, Bible stories etc. Little Adventurers and Womens Fellowship also continue to thrive.

On the 4th May, MAY DAY we are having a stall on The Green and this will help raise funds to re decorate the outside of the Chapel and schoolroom. Gifts of cakes, jams, produce etc gratefully received. Contact Liz Marshall on 628514 or Audrey Foster on 628643.
