Village Design Statement published

The draft Village Design Statement for Slingsby, South Holme and Fryton has just been published for consultation.

This document, prepared by a small group of Slingsby residents, builds on the feedback from local people in recent years about the things they value most (and least) in our three villages.  In an attractive document filled with photographs of important buildings, streets, trees and views, the VDS describes the features that characterise the villages and should be preserved.  It offers guidance to developers and builders on acceptable house designs and materials, and also to home owners wishing to alter or extend their properties.

The Parish Council approved the draft VDS in 2015.  Ryedale District Council’s Planning Committee praised the document at their meeting on 12 April 2016 and agreed unanimously that it should now be published for formal consultation.

The VDS can be viewed by following this link: Village Design Statement

On the above webpage you can find an explanation of the process and details of how to comment. There you can download our local consultation statement, as well as the full VDS document.

The consultation period extends until 30 May 2016.
