Jasper Hasell joined Castle Howard on 1st September in the newly created role of Estate Chief Executive, reporting to the Executive Chairman. In this role, Jasper will work very closely with the Chairmen and members of the Senior Management Team to grow and develop the business. He will be working across all areas but will have direct responsibility for property, land and the wider estate.
Jasper joins the Castle Howard team from Dyson where he was Global Estates Director responsible for acquisition, development and operation of all Dyson assets globally including the pioneering on campus University. Previously Jasper was Senior Vice President of Global Estates at NBCUniversal, the New York headquartered media and entertainment company where he supported the development and operation of their world class visitor attractions.
He grew up on a farm in Somerset, is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and holds a Masters in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Geography from Oxford University.

Due to the current lockdown in England, Castle Howard has taken the decision to close its Gardens and catering outlets from Thursday 7th January. The decision has not been taken lightly. On reflection, the senior team feel it would be against the spirit of this lockdown to stay open.

The Farm Shop and Garden Centre will remain open daily from 10am – 4pm for locals to use. The Farm Shop will also be open for take away barista coffee and cakes.

The Click & Collect service for the Farm Shop will again be available to access via the Castle Howard website from Friday 8th January. For more information, call the Farm Shop team on 01653 648619.

The Castle Howard Courtyard is now lit up for late night shopping and eating daily until 7pm (apart from Monday 14 December).

Even though the House is closed, on Monday 14 December you can still catch the annual Carol Concert in the Chapel, as it will be broadcast for you to enjoy live in the comfort of your own home.

Featuring a warming programme of traditional Carols performed by the talented ‘White Rose Consort’ led by Jonty Ward.

“Wish Upon a Frozen Star”, Castle Howard’s Christmas event, which had been scheduled to start on 28 November, has regrettably had to be cancelled.

Castle Howard said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that ‘Wish Upon a Frozen Star’, this year’s Castle Howard Christmas event has been cancelled. Following the Government announcement of a second national lockdown from 5th November until 2nd December we have spent a lot of time as a senior team trying to find ways to make the light show event work, however the conclusion is that it is not logistically or financially viable to try to delay the get in period and the opening of the event.

All bookers will be contacted by See Tickets to organise refunds and we thank you for your support, and understand there will be many disappointed people. We are extremely disappointed ourselves not to be able to make this new magical event happen this year, but the safety of our staff, our visitors and the financial stability of the organisation have to take priority to ensure we can come back next year with another Christmas event that will once again surprise and delight our visitors.“
