Jasper Hasell joined Castle Howard on 1st September in the newly created role of Estate Chief Executive, reporting to the Executive Chairman. In this role, Jasper will work very closely with the Chairmen and members of the Senior Management Team to grow and develop the business. He will be working across all areas but will have direct responsibility for property, land and the wider estate.

“Jasper is joining Castle Howard at a particularly interesting and crucial time for the business as we navigate our way out of the pandemic, develop a new land management strategy post Brexit and face the increasing challenge of the climate crisis. He brings a wealth of experience and creative thinking and we are both very much looking forward to working with him.” Nick and Vicky Howard.

Jasper Hasell said: “It is a great privilege to be able to work for one of the pre-eminent heritage estates in the world supporting the Howard Family and the wider team in delivering their exciting and transformative vision for the future of the Castle Howard Estate as it continues to grow and diversify.”

Castle Howard Grounds Closed during Lockdown

Due to the current lockdown in England, Castle Howard has taken the decision to close its Gardens and catering outlets from Thursday 7th January. The decision has not been taken lightly. On reflection, the senior team feel it would be against the spirit of this lockdown to stay open.

The Farm Shop and Garden Centre will remain open daily from 10am – 4pm for locals to use. The Farm Shop will also be open for take away barista coffee and cakes.

The Click & Collect service for the Farm Shop will again be available to access via the Castle Howard website from Friday 8th January. For more information, call the Farm Shop team on 01653 648619.

The Garden Centre will be accepting orders for collection or local delivery over the phone. For more information, please call the Garden Centre team on 01653 648668

An Illuminated Christmas at Castle Howard CANCELLED

“Wish Upon a Frozen Star”, Castle Howard’s Christmas event, which had been scheduled to start on 28 November, has regrettably had to be cancelled.

Castle Howard said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that ‘Wish Upon a Frozen Star’, this year’s Castle Howard Christmas event has been cancelled. Following the Government announcement of a second national lockdown from 5th November until 2nd December we have spent a lot of time as a senior team trying to find ways to make the light show event work, however the conclusion is that it is not logistically or financially viable to try to delay the get in period and the opening of the event.

All bookers will be contacted by See Tickets to organise refunds and we thank you for your support, and understand there will be many disappointed people. We are extremely disappointed ourselves not to be able to make this new magical event happen this year, but the safety of our staff, our visitors and the financial stability of the organisation have to take priority to ensure we can come back next year with another Christmas event that will once again surprise and delight our visitors.
