Parish Council Response to Balk Planning Application

Field south of Aspen Way | Photo by Richard Flint

Following their meeting on Monday 27th March 2023, our Parish Council members finalised their response to the Balk field planning application (No. 23/00037/MREM) and sent it through to Ryedale District Council last week. Although the stated consultation period is now over, people will still be able to comment on it until the date of the meeting (of the new North Yorkshire unitary council) where the decision will actually be made. Our latest understanding is that this will not be before June.

The Parish Council’s letter has taken into account residents’ views. This detailed response, while in principle supportive, expresses significant concerns about the plan in its current form, especially regarding the fact that development of only one of the two fields is covered by this application.

We thank the Parish Council for sharing this letter with residents. It can be read in full HERE.

Parish Council 27 March 2023 – Agenda

Monday 27 March 2023, 7pm, Slingsby Village Hall

The next regular meeting of the Parish Council will be considering the Balk planning application, funding for the Slingsby Sport for All project, and the Parish Charter consultation, among other things. As always, residents are welcome to attend.

The full AGENDA is HERE

Planning Application for the Balk – Consultation extended

In our post of 11 March we suggested that anyone wishing to comment on this planning application should do so by 20 March.

At the request of the Parish Council, Ryedale DC have now extended the consultation to 28 March, which will enable the Parish Council to take into account public opinion and survey responses.

The Parish Council meeting on the 27th March will give an opportunity to discuss it in public and include any specific points that will be raised by anyone from the public in the meeting.

Parish Council Response to the Key Decisions Consultation – Ryedale Plan

Following on from the recent website article outlining the process for having your say on the Key Decisions Consultation – Ryedale Plan, the Parish Council have submitted their own response. This was in the form of a letter rather than the online form. A number of parish residents have asked to see the letter, so it is available here for reference.

We would still encourage residents to put in their own individual responses.
