Theft from Works van – Old Malton.

Between 16th April 17:00 hours and 17th April 2018 07:00 hours a Ford Transit van registration YP62 LWG sign written with Derwent Vale Building Services Ltd containing a large quantity of joinery tools was stolen from an address in Old Malton, Malton, North Yorkshire. This Transit was found in a remote location in the area of Thorpe Bassett, stripped of parts including the engine and gearbox, and burnt out. This is one of a number of Transit van thefts in the Ryedale area, please be very vigilant. If you have seen anything please call 101 quoting 12180065096 or ask for PC1393 Jaggard.

A meeting at short notice.

Howardian Hills and North Yorkshire Police will be holding a Rural watch and crime prevention meeting at Hovingham Village hall on the 25th April at 19:00hrs. We would like to invite those who are interested in joining / setting up a rural watch in their area or to access crime prevention advice to attend the meeting.

OK, it is the busiest weekend of the year, in addition to the Scarecrow Festival, and the May Day Festivities, we have the first car boot sale of the year on Monday, 7^th May, 7 am to 2 pm (weather and ground conditions permitting).

The second of the year is planned for another Bank Holiday, on Monday, 28^th May, again conditions permitting.

It’s that time of year again, probably the busiest weekend of the year. Slingsby Scarecrow weekend takes place over the May Day weekend running ‪from 10am Saturday 5th May through to ‪Monday 7th May.

Scarecrow trails are available from the ‘pop up’ café in the Methodist Chapel, or from Robin Hood Caravan Park or from Tony’s village shop, for a small charge to raise funds for Friends of Slingsby School.

The ‘pop up’ café will run from 12 noon to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, serving refreshments, home-made cake and savouries, and runs alongside a ‘pre-loved’ children’s stall.

Scarecrow entries, modern and traditional, are displayed around the village of Slingsby, so remember to vote for your favourite Scarecrow to be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Because the Scarecrow weekend runs into the May Day Monday, it’s joined by the traditional May Day festivities taking place on the village green, including May Pole dancing and traditional stalls and refreshments.

So come along and support a great cause, and maybe get lucky and win a prize.
