Art Plaque Unveiling

Tuesday, March 22nd. 2011 at 3.0 pm.  The children of Slingsby CP School invite everyone to the unveiling of the art project plaque, depicting life in Slingsby, on Tuesday, March 22nd. 2011 at 3.0 pm and then enjoy refreshments at the French cafe organised by the children. All this takes place at the school on the Green, Slingsby. Everyone is most welcome.

Photographic tour of the Malton to Driffield Railway

The curator of the Yorkshire Wolds Railway archive, Matthew Brown, will be giving an illustrated talk on the railway showing many unseen photographs of the line from conception to closure.

Entrance is free for members or £3 per person, (£2 for concessions) and everyone is welcome. Limited transport from Driffield Railway station can be provided. Please call 01377 338053 for details. There will also be the chance to find out more about the Yorkshire Wolds Railway and talk to the committee. Anyone wishing to become a member can join the group for just £12 on the night.

NYCC (Ryedale) Local Committee

16th March, 10.30am Hovingham Village Hall.  North Yorkshire County Council has seven Local Area Committees. They have responsibility for local issues such as highways and rights of way. Members of the public are welcome. The NYCC Local Area Committee for the Ryedale area will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday 16th March in Hovingham Village Hall. Community funding – you decide 15th March

Participatory Budgeting Meeting 15th March 2011, 7pm.

Applications for this £2,000 of special funding have now been received. Come along to the Village Hall on 15th March at 7pm to vote for your favourite project.  All residents of the parish are welcome. The project with the highest number of votes will get the amount of money it applied for. This process will continue until all the money is allocated. All applicants are community groups within the Parish. We look forward to seeing you there.

Website’s first week a success

Slingsby’s new website https://www.slingsbyvillage.co.uk received 78 visits on day one and 486 pages were downloaded (we have the technology…) Congratulations have been coming in from many quarters, both locally and further afield. Two messages were received from Australia. Many people have been tweeting (bless them…)

Perhaps most satisfying, was a personal message of congratulations received from Clare Wood, our County Councillor (Hovingham and Sheriff Hutton). Clare enjoyed using the website and believes it will help her work here. That should help us, I guess.

The Website team are not resting on their laurels. We intend to do more to ensure the website appears more prominently in searches, thereby ensuring it reaches a wider audience. Now, what about your news…
