ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH EXPLORERS DAY on Saturday 9th July, from 10 a.m. Free entry.
All Saints’ Church will be taking part in York Archaeological Trust’s Church Explorers Day. The church houses many interesting things that are closely associated with the history of Slingsby and the key events that have influenced it.
The church has been working with Year 4, 5 and 6 children at Slingsby School to develop a new Young Person’s Guide to the church, introduced by Slingsby’s very own George the Dragon! There will be guided tours of the church with the children at 11am and 2pm, to which parents, friends and visitors are all invited. Come and learn about the interesting, historic and curious features of the church.
There will be lots of craft activities for children, including make your own crown, ‘stained glass snap’ and a chance to hear more about Slingsby’s medieval knights and dragons. All these events will take place from 10 a.m. onwards when there will be coffee and light refreshments available
Tuesday July 5th 7pm.
Visit to Ness Hall.
Meet at Village Hall at 6.45 if you need transport.
£5 per person to be given to charity on the night.

Tickets £5 to include tea or coffee in the Village Hall afterwards
Interesting fact – Revd Bridget Brooke, now (technically!) retired priest at St John’s Ranmoor, is a descendant of Revd Arthur S Brooke, Rector of Slingsby for 46 years until 1928, and author of the leading book on Slingsby. It was Revd Bridget’s connection with Slingsby that helped to start the visits by St John’s Choir.
