Arboretum Closure – Expected High Winds Again

Please note that the arboretum will open to members only from 8-10am on Thursday 12th March. The arboretum will be closed for the rest of the day due to expected high winds. The arboretum will reopen to all at 10am Friday 13th March. Should the forecast change during the period of closure, another communication will be issued accordingly.

The Arboretum Café will remain open 10am-4pm.

The English Civil Wars were one of the nastiest wars fought on our soil and York was the Northern prize. This talk explores how the wars began and the pivotal role that Yorkshire played in the ultimate success of the parliamentarians. How did families decide which side to fight on? Where did people get their arms and armour from? What was the strategic importance of York, and what happened at the Battle of Marston Moor?

Should the forecast change during the period of closure, another communication will be issued accordingly.

Repair café, Hovingham, 14 March

NB. THE 13 JUNE REPAIR CAFE HAS BEEN CANCELLED OWING TO CORONAVIRUS.

Saturday 14 March, 9.30-11.30am, Hovingham Village Hall

Local residents are invited to bring along items that need repair. Volunteer specialists will mend or advise, free of charge. Save items from going to landfill. Items can include electrical, household, carpentry items, clothing mending and alterations.

A reminder that Hovingham Village Market (with local food, rural crafts & community Cafe) will be taking place this weekend on Saturday 7th March. The market opens at 10.30 am and closes at 1.30 pm.
