Parish Plan Update published

The Parish Plan team have sent us the update of the Parish Plan. The new document builds on the original plan of 2010, and is largely based on the results of a detailed questionnaire completed by residents. It also incorporates more recent feedback and comments from village groups.

The principal part is a new Action Plan to take us to 2020.

The document (in pdf form) can be read here: Parish Plan.

The Ryedale Festival 2017 summer programme has now been published and we are delighted to report that the Festival has chosen to return to Slingsby in July.

On Wednesday 26 July, Slingsby’s All Saints’ Church will be the venue for a late-night candlelit Mozart concert. The works will include your website editor’s favourite Mozart violin sonata (K.304 in E minor) and the Piano Trio in B flat major (K.502).

Priority booking is now underway for Members and (from 8 to 20 May) Friends. General booking will open on 22 May.

Scarecrow Festival 29th April – 1st May 2017

Saturday 29th April (from 12 noon) to Monday 1st May. Once again, Friends of Slingsby School have organised the Scarecrow Festival, to adorn the village with a mix of handmade modern and traditional interpretations of the Scarecrow, shown in a variety of forms to amuse and delight.
Scarecrows are displayed around the village and Scarecrow trails are available to buy for £2 from the FoSS ‘pop up’ café in the Methodist Chapel, from Robin Hood Caravan Park or from the Village Shop.

The pop up café will run from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, serving refreshments and home made cake and savouries, and will run alongside a ‘pre loved’ children’s stall.

As the Scarecrow Festival runs into May Day Monday, its is joined by the traditional May Day festivities which take place on the Green.
