Free dog microchipping at BATA Norton 18th June 2015

Dog microchipping at BATA Country Store, Norton Road, Norton, Malton on Thursday 18th June 2015 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dogs Trust is offering this free service around the country.

There is no need to book.

“Soup-a lunch”, Wednesday 17th June 2015 at 12 noon

Soup-a-lunch on Wednesday 17th June  at 12 noon in Slingsby Methodist Schoolroom at the Chapel

All are welcomed (especially seniors) to lunch in the Schoolroom. There will be soup, sandwiches, a pudding and no doubt a good chat.

There is no charge but donations are welcome.

Car Boot Sale Sunday 14th June -reminder

There will be a Car Boot Sale on the Slingsby Sportsfield tomorrow, starting at 7 a.m., subject as always to ground conditions which are OK at the moment.

Consultation on bus service subsidy

North Yorkshire County Council is proposing to cut subsidy to bus services.

The Council is consulting on these proposed changes and asks for our views.

The closing date for responses is 14th August 2015.

(The proposals do not affect the 194 service through Slingsby, although services nearby would be affected)

 

 

Community Grants available..

We have learnt of a couple of schemes taking applications for funding for community projects

Ryedale District Council’s Community Grants fund is open for applications until 31st July (and a second round of applications for those who miss out is coming later in the year) Details are here. Maximum grant £5,000

Skipton Building Society’s “Grassroots Giving” scheme is also open for applications until 31st July, offering £500 to successful groups. Registered charities cannot apply – there is a separate fund for them. Details are here

Arboretum Birds of Prey Day – Sunday 14th June

Birds of Prey Day at The Yorkshire Arboretum, Castle Howard, on Sunday 14th June 2015 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Arboretum says:- “A special chance to witness a falconry display where you’ll get the chance to learn all about these spectacular birds.”

There is no charge, and no need to book. Usual arboretum entry fees for non-members will apply.
