Richard Jones’ new production of La Boheme returns with new casts portraying the young Parisian couples for whom the excitement and sophistication of a big city too soon gives way to hard lessons and heartbreak – as Mimi and Rodolfo are to learn.

Puccini’s romantic depiction of bohemian Paris, with memorable music and a love story drawn from everyday life, has captivated audiences around the world, making La boheme one of the best-loved of all operas. It was first performed in Covent Garden in 1897 and has had more than five hundred performances there since.

7.30pm (pre-screening starts at 7pm).
Approximate running time: 2 hours 35 minutes, including one interval. Sung in Italian with English subtitles.
