The eagle-eyed among you and those plugged into the grapevine will know that signs were posted in the village (at the top of the Balk) a week or so ago, announcing that Castle Howard had submitted the long-awaited application. It is a Reserved Matters application, meaning it addresses those areas which were not covered by the outline approval of March 2020.

Much of the information in this application is what Castle Howard presented to the village at the open meeting in the Village Hall on 28 November 2022. But there is additional information, most interestingly around the phasing of the project and the confirmation that only part of the site (the larger Castle Howard owned field) is up for permission at this point. Another application for the other smaller part may follow soon.

The Parish Council are a statutory consultee and aim to meet in the coming week to determine their response to the application. We hope to bring you more on that, once the meeting has been held.

If you wish to comment on this application, we recommend you do so by 20th March. You may comment online on the Planning portal (link below) or by emailing [email protected]

Some will remember that this site was adopted into the Ryedale Plan in 2017 and the first consultation was held in 2018 as reported in this village website POST of June 2018.
