Ryedale Festival bring Dudok Quartet to Slingsby, 22 July

The Ryedale Festival presents the fabulous Dudok Quartet. With infectious energy and consoling melodies, they perform two of Tchaikovsky’s wonderful string quartets. The group are joined by Siân Dicker to perform luminous music by Lili Boulanger, one of the most exciting composers of the early 20th century, until her death at the age of just 24.

At All Saints’ Church in Slingsby on Saturday 22 July, the Dudok Quartet bring to a close their complete cycle of Tchaikovsky’s music for string quartet, which starts in Hovingham on 19 July and continues at Birdsall House on 20 July. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear music from the most melodic and emotional of composers!

Ryedale Eco Fair 10 June

Saturday 10 June, 10am to 3pm, The Milton Rooms, Malton

Ryedale Eco Fair returns for a third year. Free admission.

Following the success of its second Eco Fair last September, Ryedale Environment Group is delighted to announce a return to the same venue with even more to see and do.

Designed to showcase all the ways Ryedale’s residents and visitors can help create a greener, healthier future for all, the fair coincides with the Great Big Green Week (a national initiative run by the Climate Coalition) and will be held in the Milton Rooms, Malton, on Saturday 10th June, 10am–3pm.

Among the 30+ stalls confirmed are:

Family-friendly activities will include workshops from the North Yorkshire Rotters, plant pot-making and sunflower seed-sowing with the chance to enter our REG Sunflower Challenge, and an exciting collaborative art project – bringing some ocean magic to Malton with a sculpture created over the course of the day, incorporating contributions made by local young people using plastic and other waste materials.

“The fair is a great opportunity to showcase all the positive action happening at various levels within Ryedale, and to engage the wider community,” says REG spokesperson, Kate Stansfield. “It’s crucial that we raise awareness of the crises our environment is facing, because they will affect everyone”. She added, “But we need to focus less on the doom and gloom, and more on showing how many things we can all do that are quick, easy, and can bring us benefits like saving money or improving our mental health.”

Admission to the fair is free, and all members of the community are invited to come along, ask questions, share ideas and find out how they can make a difference. There’ll be something for everyone and lots of friendly faces! For more information, contact REG on [email protected].
