Ryedale Housing Sites Revealed

At a meeting on 12 October Ryedale District Council approved the Local Plan housing development site map. This includes sites in the service villages, which include Slingsby, as well as sites in Pickering and Kirkbymoorside.

The site recommended in Slingsby is the field adjoining The Balk, between Aspen Way and the top road (on the right in the photograph above).

Follow this link to see the map on the RDC Local Plan website. It shows that a part of the site is within the Conservation Area:

It has been known locally for some time that this area was earmarked for development. The latest Council decision does not constitute final approval. The Local Plan Sites Document and Policies Map will be published for public consultation in November before being submitted to the Government for independent examination early next year.
