Christmas Tree Recycling at the Arboretum January 2017

A message from the Yorkshire Arboretum

“When it’s time to put away the decorations for another year, please consider giving your real tree another lease of life by donating it to the Arboretum.
We’d love to receive it to create chippings for paths in the new woodland garden alongside the lake.
If you’d like to recycle your tree in this way, please remove all the lights and decorations and then just leave the tree in the Arboretum car park between 10am and 4pm from the 3rd to the 13th January (weekdays only).
Thank you!”

Happy New Year to all

We at the Slingsby Website and Newsletter Group wish all of you a happy, prosperous and peaceful 2017.

If 2016 felt like the worst year in living memory to you – take heart.

Even in the depth of winter there lies the germ of an invincible summer.

We look forward to bringing you good news in the coming year.

Merry Christmas!

The Slingsby website and newsletter group wishes all our website visitors, friends and followers, and of course all readers of the Triangle, a very happy Christmas.

Please bear in mind that the website wizards and Triangle elves may be a little less responsive over the festive period.

Fracking goes ahead – legal challenge lost

Fracking, the controversial process for extracting shale gas, is now set to go ahead at Kirby Misperton after environmentalists and local residents lost a legal challenge they had brought on climate change grounds.

This morning (Tuesday), the high court ruled against Friends of the Earth and Frack Free Ryedale, who had argued that North Yorkshire county council had failed to properly consider the environmental impact of burning gas when it approved Third Energy’s application back in May. That earlier decision had been taken in the face of widespread public opposition from residents and environmental groups.

Kirby Misperton becomes the first site in North Yorkshire to see fracking and only the second in the entire UK (after the Fylde, Lancashire).

The decision will come as a severe blow to residents, FrackFree Ryedale, Friends of the Earth and all the others who have been campaigning to halt fracking.

Independent reporting on this story, with reaction from both camps, can be found HERE.
