Spring Photography 3

Local photographer David Critchley has kept his promise to send more spring themed photographs of the Slingsby area for residents to enjoy.

David writes – ‘Here are a couple of photos of some photogenic Spring Lambs. These ones are in the field just off The Lawns if anyone would like to see them. If anyone would like to request photos of anything please do get in touch.’

The first week of our new service has been well received by residents, so here is this weeks Takeaway Menu.
We are allocating time slots for collection from the front window of the pub to try and ensure no-one has to queue.

Please bring your own bag or box. All food must be pre-ordered so please ring the pub 01653 628076 to place your order and receive your allocated collection time. Sunday Lunch bookings need to be pre-ordered by 5pm on Friday.

Friends of Malton Museum Reminder

You will be having both ‘Go Local’ and ‘Handymag’ dropping through your letterbox about now. Both are still advertising the April lecture. These magazines have a very long lead time so it’s difficult to alter anything once it has been submitted. As previously advised this has had to be cancelled. There will be no April lecture.

We have been in touch with Joyce Hill and will arrange for her lecture “Beneath the Streets of Rome” to be included in a future programme.

SLINGSBY, FRYTON AND SOUTH HOLME ….. THANK YOU!

On behalf of Slingsby, South Holme and Fryton Parish Council, we wanted to say A HUGE THANK YOU to residents. So many people have been in touch, as First Responders and volunteers, enabling us to ensure that everyone within the parish feels they have someone they can contact to ask for help, and no-one feels overwhelmed. Over the past week we have been able to help our ‘shielded’ residents collect prescriptions from Hovingham, Ampleforth and Derwent Surgeries, helped people find and set up telephone and online shopping and deliveries.

As we observe government guidance on taking our daily exercise locally, we have never appreciated our local footpath network more. So PLEASE can we request that local dog-walkers clear up after their pets immediately, especially on CHURCH LANE, the FOOTPATH BETWEEN CASTLE FARM AND FRYTON and the RAILWAY LINE.

These areas are being closely monitored. We need to focus our efforts on social distancing, not dodging dog mess, which can cause blindness and numerous other health problems with which we do not want to burden the NHS. This is our problem, please act responsibly so the whole community can enjoy the outdoors safely.
